KATHARINA FINK is an editor, curator and writer. Together with Nadine Siegert, she founded and runs iwalewabooks, a publishing house for art and discourse, based in South Africa and Germany – and soon in Nigeria. One of her passions is exploring the power of aesthetic collectives, however temporary.
These celebrations of moments of joy and politics unfold, eg, in the Sophiatown Arts Festival in Johannesburg/South Africa (www.sophiatownartsfestival.co.za) or in Bayreuth blättert, an inclusive literature festival in Bayreuth/Germany. Furthermore, she organises mostly jazz concerts, exhibitions and other gatherings as a free curator. Her passion is where her research interest lies as well: aesthetic solidarity. She’s responsible for teaching, programming and inclusion at Iwalewahaus, based at the University of Bayreuth in Germany; and happy to be an associate researcher of the Wits Centre for Diversity Studies (WiCDS) in Johannesburg.
