Maïmouna Jallow is the co-founder and director of Positively African, a Nairobi-based arts and media company that creates content and curates events that celebrate African stories. She is a storyteller, editor, playwright and director. In 2020 she wrote and directed Tales of the Accidental City, based on four stories from a collection entitled, Humans of Nairobi, which she adapted into an audio drama and online play. In 2018 she received the Sanaa Theatre Award for Best Narrative Theatre for her adaptation of Lola Shoneyin’s The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, which she toured internationally. She is also the editor of Story Story, Story Come, an anthology of 12 African folktales. Her work has been featured on the New York Times; Reuters; BBC, Forbes Woman Africa, and The Business Daily, amongst others. She holds an MA in African Literature from SOAS, University of London.
