Eliza Anyangwe is managing editor of new digital publication, The Correspondent, based in Amsterdam. In 2016, she founded The Nzinga Effect, a media company focused on telling the stories of African and Afro-descendant women. Its latest project, Not Yet Satisfied, tells the stories of women in Accra and Johannesburg who are opening up coversations about sex and sexuality. The first story in the series was published by CNN International.
Eliza started her career in NGOs, before joining The Guardian in 2008. She’s also worked for CNN Africa and The Bureau of Investigative Journalism. Her stories have featured in The FT, Al Jazeera, The Independent, Open Democracy; and she’s appeared on Newsnight, BBC World Service, PRI’s The World, among others.
She’s a contributing author to ‘Africa’s Media Image in the 21st Century’ (Routledge 2016), and sporadically writes a newsletter called Griot Girl. Find her onTwitter @elizatalks and Instagram @elizatookthis.
