Born in Kaduna on the 7th of July, Abdulkareem Baba Aminu is an artist, writer, editor, poet, and critic. He has shown his work in many group outings, and a solo exhibition at Alliance Française Kaduna, in 2009.
He was part of the writer’s room for the well-received TV series ‘Wetin Dey’ (BBC World Service Trust). The award-winning Abuja-based journalist has also reviewed graphic novels, movies, books, and music for a variety of platforms.
Baba Aminu also writes for the American arts and culture quarterly Full Bleed (IDW), and is currently General Editor at the Daily Trust, one of the most influential newspapers in Nigeria. His weekly back page editorial cartoon, ‘Back-Hand’, has been running for almost two decades, and he continues to contribute bi-weekly strips to German media giant Deutsche Welle in the Hausa language.
