Ruona MEYER is a Nigerian journalist, media trainer and researcher currently studying power asymmetries within transcontinental investigative journalism teams.
Her work is published in special issues of African Journalism Studies (2019), and Journalism (2024). With bylines across African and Europe, notably 234NEXT, Reuters, Financial Times and the BBC, Ruona’s recent roles include: Manager, Africa Initiative, Solutions Journalism Network USA (February 2021-September 2023); Advisory Board, Next-Generation News Study research by FT Strategies UK (2023-2024); Visiting Senior Research Associate, King's College, UK (2022-April 2024); Jury Member, European Journalism Center (various, October 2022 till date) and AI in Communications Training Consultant with the European Network of Equality Bodies (May 2024).
She is the first Nigerian journalist nominated for an Emmy award (2019).
