My name is Dr Hadiza Kere Abdulrahman. I am a Senior Lecturer in Inclusive and Special Education at the University of Lincoln in the UK. I co-own a school called Funhouse in Minna, Niger State, where we aim to teach differently. My PhD in 2018 focused on Qur’anic schooling in northern Nigeria.
My work focuses on understanding the relationship between power, knowledge and coloniality as it manifests in different contexts especially around decolonising educational reform and imagination in places like Nigeria. I research around the politics of Almajiranci education in Nigeria, with inquiries into Qur’anic schooling more broadly. I use this to apply insights into decolonial discourse and to cultivate ways of communicating my research to diverse audiences, including within extremely politicised debates.
My work is located at the intersections of Inclusive Education, Religious Education, Cultural and Youth Studies, International and Comparative Educational Policy.
