Bernardine Evaristo won the Booker Prize 2019 for her novel, Girl, Woman, Other, which is a global bestseller. Her books have been translated into 38 languages and the BBC One TV adaptation of her novel, Mr Loverman, was a critical hit and won 2 BAFTAS in 2025.

In 2025 she also received the one-off Women's Prize Outstanding Contribution Award - to celebrate the Prize's 30th anniversary. She was chosen out of all previous Women's Prize winners and nominees globally. One of Britain's most celebrated writers, she has received over 90 honours and nominations.

A literary advocate, she has also initiated many inclusion projects. She is an Honorary Fellow of St. Anne’s College, University of Oxford, an International Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, and the President of the Royal Society of Literature, the second woman and first person of colour to hold the position in 200 years.
