AlhanIslam (Maryam Bukar Hassan) is a celebrated Nigerian poet, storyteller, and communications strategist known for using the power of words to drive social change. Recently appointed in 2025 as a Global Peace Ambassador by the UN Under-Secretary-General, AlhanIslam continues to champion peacebuilding, identity, and justice through art and advocacy.
Her work blends poetic performance with strategic communications, influencing campaigns for organizations such as the African Union, Gates foundation, Devex and Change.org.
A recipient of multiple awards and has received awards alongside Dr Akinwumi Adeshina, HRH Olu of Warri, Vice President of South Africa to mention a few, including 100 most reputable african award, she is also the founder of True My Voice, an initiative that amplifies youth voices across Africa.
