On the Eve of Freedom<\/b><\/p>\n

At the tall gilded gates<\/span><\/p>\n

We might raucously dance<\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps weep<\/span><\/p>\n

And kneel in the deep ruts of anguish<\/span><\/p>\n

The journey thus far<\/span><\/p>\n

A tale to bitterly throw away.<\/span><\/p>\n

Egregiously we\u2019ve lost track<\/span><\/p>\n

Adored doleful travails<\/span><\/p>\n

The heat of withering injustice<\/span><\/p>\n

Has cracked our backs<\/span><\/p>\n

Our lips but sere.<\/span><\/p>\n

At those wondrous gates\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We will swoon in joy<\/span><\/p>\n

When the republic is born anew<\/span><\/p>\n

And democracy be our tall beacon<\/span><\/p>\n

Lighting up our paths into the future<\/span><\/p>\n

As we sing and dance<\/span><\/p>\n

Home at last!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our Own Saviours<\/b><\/p>\n

At the shore we perch<\/span><\/p>\n

Pusillanimity cast away from our<\/span><\/p>\n

Healthy breasts, we are pregnant<\/span><\/p>\n

With hopes and incessant faith.<\/span><\/p>\n

The years have been torturous<\/span><\/p>\n

Our backs all but broken<\/span><\/p>\n

Plundered to please alien faces<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve built up lands afar<\/span><\/p>\n

And gilded palaces of our tormentors.<\/span><\/p>\n

The feelings encompassing about us<\/span><\/p>\n

A freshness so exhilarating<\/span><\/p>\n

A warmness very contagious<\/span><\/p>\n

Elates our thin personages.<\/span><\/p>\n

Albeit all the trouble<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re glad to be home<\/span><\/p>\n

Happy to be at tranquility\u2019s door<\/span><\/p>\n

Knowledgeable in incontrovertible truths that<\/span><\/p>\n
