Rotimi Babatunde’s stories, plays, and poems have been published internationally and translated into languages such as French, German, Swedish, and Serbian.
In 2012, he won the Caine Prize for African Writing for his story “Bombay’s Republic”. Another of his works, “The Collected Tricks of Houdini”, was longlisted for the 2015 Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award, the world’s richest prize for a single short story.
His plays have been broadcast on the BBC World Service and performed at renowned venues, including the Young Vic, Royal Court Theatre, and Arcola Theatre in the UK, Halcyon Theatre in the US, and Riksteatern in Sweden.
He has been a writer-in-residence at Georgetown University, Washington D.C, and awarded fellowships by Macdowell and Ledig House, both in the US, and the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Centre, Italy, among others.
