Angela Wachuka is Co-Founder of Book Bunk, an organisation reclaiming and reimagining Nairobi’s historic public libraries as thriving community spaces. She features in the documentary How to Build a Library, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2025.
She is a director of Nairobi Litfest, an annual festival of ideas anchored in Nairobi’s public libraries and co-host of A Palace for The People, a podcast uncovering Kenya’s hidden histories through its library archives. She served as a judge for the Caine Prize for African Writing and the PublisHer Excellence Awards, and held fellowships at the Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts and the Obama Foundation.
She is a founding member of Kenya’s Creative Economy Working Group and holds a degree in Anthropology and Law from the London School of Economics.
