Mazi Nwonwu is the pen name of Chiagozie Nwonwu, is a Nigerian writer and journalist. He is the co-founder and managing editor of Omenana Magazine, a leading African speculative fiction platform founded in 2014 that continues to champion imaginative work from across the continent and diaspora.

As a fiction writer, his work has featured in major anthologies including Lagos 2060 (Nigeria’s first science fiction anthology) and AfroSF, the first pan-African science fiction anthology. He also contributed “Rainmaker” to Africanfuturism: An Anthology, published in 2020 by Brittle Paper as a landmark collection focused on the subgenre.

His short story collection How to Make a Space Masquerade and Other Speculative Stories was published in 2024.
