Muthoni Muiruri is a Nairobi-based cultural curator and literary advocate. She is the co-founder of Soma Nami Books, a Pan-African literary hub that incorporates an innovative bookstore and Soma Nami Press, a publishing house dedicated to promoting diverse voices.
Muthoni is also the founder and curator of the African Book Fair, an annual hybrid literary festival and book fair, celebrated as Kenya’s largest platform for showcasing African literature. With a background in Psychology, Muthoni is deeply curious about the complexities of the human condition and the impact of histories and historical narratives on contemporary life.
When she is not immersed in a book, you will find her exploring new destinations or debating herself on whether she will ever get around to completing her PhD. Her research interests are in History, Colonial legacies and International relations.
