Like the saying goes, “A little fun never hurt anyone!” And it was time to shake things up! After a day filled with thought-provoking book chats and panel discussions, the evening took a delightful turn.

The Fun Continues

The reception transformed into a playground, with eight houses (Osofisan Table, Tutuola Table, Yari Table, Alkali Table, Ekwensi Table, Emecheta Table, Awoonor Table, and El Saadawi Table) competing for the top spot. The energy was electric!

Game On!

The Emecheta Table bagged the first position, with each participant taking home a book as a prize. The excitement was palpable, with high spirits and an adrenaline rush that set the tone for the rest of the night.

Unobuntu: A Documentary Story

Next up was a film screening of "uNobuntu," hosted by Angela Wachuka and featuring a powerful documentary story by mother and daughter duo, Nombeko Nontshokweni and Sihle Nontshokweni.

A Bedtime Story to Remember

The night drew to a close with a soothing bedtime story by Kathryn Scanlan, winner of the Windham Campbell Prize. It was the perfect way to unwind after an action-packed evening.

And that's a wrap! But the party's just getting started! Stay tuned for Day 2, where the conversations get deeper, the laughter gets louder, and the fun gets fiercer! What's your favorite Ake Fest moment so far? Share with us in the comments!
