Joy Bewaji

Joy Isi Bewaji started out in Advertising. She held a lifestyle column in ThisDay Newspaper; worked as an editor for TW magazine, then moved to Genevieve magazine. She anchored The Breakfast Show on HiTV, and the Morning Show on TVC.

Joy writes screenplays and stage plays. Her stage play, Wedding Blues, won the British Council Theatre Live contest in 2016. She wrote and organised the stage play: “Story of my Vagina” – a project that addressed slut shaming, performed by the Crown Troupe of Africa.

She runs a project called ‘The Conversation’ where issues on Patriarchy, Misogyny and Sexism are addressed. The Conversation was held at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York in 2016. She also spoke at Harvard on “African Feminism”.
