Panel Discussions

Everyone loves the panel discussions at Ake Festival because no matter how strong our opinions are, issues are approached with an open mind and a view to learning something new. We've got 9 stimulating panel discussions lined up this year, with topics ranging from Legs Open Eyes Shut: Sensuality in New African Fiction to Prison Stories and the Literature of Resistance with literary icon Ngugi wa Thiong'o, Kunle Ajibade and the eminent Africans who have experienced incarceration at the hands of African despots. We will also hold a public workshop where we will be examining the definition of Horror Fiction in Africa. The idea is to generate interest in this genre by stimulating conversation.
