Submissions

Ake Review welcomes entries in all literary and artistic genres, including fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, reviews, photography, film, music, sound art, performance art, and visual art. Entries can be submitted in written form, as podcasts, or as videos. Pieces that explore multi-genre, inter-disciplinary, and multimedia formats are encouraged.

Call for Submissions for Ake Review 2016

In anticipation of its 2016 edition, the Ake Arts and Book Festival is delighted to announce a call for entries for Ake Review, our annual journal. The theme for Ake Arts and Book Festival is BENEATH THIS SKIN. Centered on issues around identity, race and individuality, we desire work that engages these subjects.

Submissions:

  1. Poetry - a maximum of three poems
  2. Prose – a maximum of 1600 words
  3. Artwork – a maximum of 2 works in high-res jpeg
  4. Please include a bio of no longer than 70 words

Submission Guidelines:

  • All entries must be submitted via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. as attachments with 'AR Submission' in the subject line.
  • Entries must be original and unpublished
  • Only one submission per person
  • Deadline for entries is Monday 29 August, 2016
  • Successful creatives will receive 2 copies of Ake Review
